Low Noise Photometric Detector Description
This new low noise detector is designed to measure in low light situations. The filter is carefully designed and built to match the photodiode, resulting in accurate light measurements. The photodiode can be cooled to low temperatures (~ -20C), while the filter is held at 25C. The sealed unit has material chosen for very low out-gassing. The cooling is accomplished with TEC units. Please see paper presented at CIE2023 titled NEW GENERATION OF REFERENCE PHOTOMETERS FOR REDUCED UNCERTAINTY by Yuqin Zong et. al. for further details on actual performance and stability.
The photodetector unit (2.5″ diameter x 3″ length, SM2 threads on front, Coax connector and HIROSE 10 pin circular connector) has TEC and thermistor interfaces, a diffuser and a 4mm aperture. Unit consists of photodiode, color filter, temperature controlled unit, and sealed head.
Diffuser: Thorlabs 1/2 inch dia 600 grit window (WG40510-600GRIT-SP)
Aperture: 4mm 1-4000+B-2 from National Aperture
Photometric Y Bar Filter: Matched to Hamamatsu 1227-1010-BQ f1′: <=1.5%
- Diameter: 20.0mm (+0.0/-0.20mm)
- Thickness: Maximum 4.0mm
- Parallelism: <=3 arc mins
